AURORA, Colo. – Marc Parker, Senior Vice President and Division Manager of Commercial Deposit and Payment Solutions of U.S. Bank in Denver, has been named chair of the board of the Aurora Economic Development Council. He succeeds James M. Mulligan, Attorney at Law of Fairfield and Woods, P.C., who acted as chair for 2007. Parker will oversee the board effective immediately and will serve a one-year term. This will be Parker’s sixth year serving on the Aurora Economic Development Council board of directors.

Founded in 1976, the Aurora Economic Development Council is a public/private partnership dedicated to enhancing the economic strength of the city of Aurora. The board of directors consists of business and government leaders from throughout the metro area. Board members provide the organization with strategic direction and oversight of primary job creation and retention efforts within the city and help manage the organization’s collaborative efforts with regional economic development partners. The organization’s strategic initiatives for 2008 include economic development infrastructure, marketing and branding, public policy and action, and strategic partnerships.

Since joining U.S. Bank in 1991, Parker has diversified his career within the bank to include Private Banking, Mortgage, Retail Operations and Commercial Banking. Since 2003, Parker has managed the Denver Commercial Deposit and Payment Solutions Team. In 2005 and again in 2006, Parker was the recipient of U.S. Bank’s Vanguard Award, an award given to the top 15 commercial bankers.

Parker is also involved in a leadership capacity on other boards and associations including The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.

“Marc Parker’s commitment to the Aurora Economic Development Council and the metro area business community makes him an excellent selection as chair,” stated Wendy Mitchell, president and CEO of the Aurora Economic Development Council. “Under Marc’s leadership, the organization will continue to raise the bar for economic development efforts in the state of Colorado and bring economic prosperity to the region.”
