 Aurora Economic Development Council attends BIO Convention
The Aurora Economic Development Council was an active participant of 2008 BIO International Convention June 17 – 20 in San Diego, CA. This year’s event included 20,108 industry leader participants from 70 different countries and 48 states. The convention program included four days of breakout sessions, educational tracks, keynote sessions, and CEO Forum sessions. Colorado Governor Bill Ritter attended the convention in addition to meeting with biotech companies doing business in Colorado or considering doing business within the state.
The 2008 BIO International Convention is hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization, a trade association that provides advocacy, business development, and communications services for more than 1,150 members worldwide. Corporate members range from entrepreneurial companies in the process of developing a first product to Fortune 100 multinationals. BIO also represents state and regional biotech associations, academic centers, and service providers to the industry.

Merrick & Company Awarded New Contracts, Honors
Aurora based Merrick & Company, was recently awarded contracts with Wright County, Minnesota; City of Fargo, North Dakota; and the Regional Independent Corporation of Bogota, Colombia. Merrick will provide LiDAR, digital ortho imaging, photogrammetry, and geospatial solutions services. Merrick recently received three honors from the American Council of Engineering Companies for three additional projects.

TransFirst Selects City of Aurora for Expansion
TransFirst, a leading provider of secure transaction processing services and payment enabling technologies, recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new office at 3131 S Vaughn Way in Aurora.
