The rankings were determined through valuable sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Census Bureau, the FBI, the U.S. Department of Labor, Nielsen-Claritas, and Simmons-Experian. Contributors took into consideration included per capita occurrence of cancer, gym memberships, air quality, obesity and crime rates.
