Why Aurora? Aurora is where the action is. It is the third largest city in Colorado with a population of 300,000 and more than 140 square miles of land. Aurora is home to major regional economic generators including the Fitzsimons life sciences campus, Buckley Air Force Base, Denver International Airport, Front Range Airport and the E-470, I-225 and I-70 corridors.
What does the Aurora Economic Development Council do? A partnership between business and government for more than three decades, the Aurora Economic Development Council enhances the economic strength of the city through innovative employer recruiting, expansion, and retention initiatives. The organization helps Aurora maintain a leadership position within the state's most promising growth industries, including aerospace and defense systems, biosciences and transportation logistics. Its strategic vision is to become the premier business address in the West.
How does Aurora accomplish its objectives? Aurora carries out its mission in a number of ways. It cultivates an Aurora business environment that is ripe for growth and development. It provides information and resources to help projects succeed.
What does an Aurora Economic Development Council Board position offer a business? The opportunity to develop CEO-level strategic partnerships with regional firms for which Aurora is an important market. Relationships develop at Board meetings, events or through task forces that implement Board-directed initiatives.
Continuous exposure to the political leadership of Aurora and the opportunity to develop personal relationships with them. The Mayor and four City Council members are members of the Board as well as the City Manager and the Director of Development Services. Adams and Arapahoe County Commissions are also represented on the Board.
The opportunity to address and influence issues that are important to Aurora development. Board members can weigh in on a variety of important legislative, marketing and local policy decisions that impact Aurora's business and development environment.
An extension of its corporate marketing arm. Aurora market intelligence is immediately available by contacting the Aurora Economic Development Council staff. Referrals of client prospects are made to Board members whenever possible.
Why is there only one level of membership and investment? With several levels of investment, the levels of service to investors are minimally differentiated. All investors should receive the same level of service and pay the same price for that service.
Why is Board membership limited to 100? With an unlimited number of investors, personalized service is not possible. A limited number of investors ensures more face-to-face contact with staff and a greater opportunity to leverage an investment.
Why is the annual investment in Board membership $10,000? The Aurora Economic Development Council provides a valuable service in a thriving market. Membership on the Board is priced at a level comparable to other economic development groups in the metro area.
